I love this series, Madeline! I'm with Anne on wearing a uniform to write. I have found it helpful in. my writing practice as well. But I do love to dress up on the weekends, and the occasional costume as well!
I am bipolar, when I am manic I usually talk to strangers :D especially homeless ppl and I think it is amazing, I cherish all memories I have from those conversations.
This was great. I was walking in the park today and there was a group of people sitting in a circle on chairs they had obviously brought with them, having a very lively discussion. I was dying to go and ask them what was going on, but I was torn between interrupting the flow and just letting them be. In the end I opted for the latter. But I regret it now, because there was a great story there waiting to be told.
I know that torn feeling well! I appreciated what Anne said about listening to our intuition on this point though — and sometimes we have to trust the timing and flow of these things.
Madeline this was VERY NICELY done. A big fan of Anne. This was wonderful because it was insightful and your questions led to openness and reflects the qualities that shine through in her Newsletter. I've added a shortcut to your Substack.
Thank you for the kind feedback Mark — it was a delight to be able to pose such questions to Anne, who is such and adept question-asker! And what a treat to be a shortcut! ❤️
Most of my FAVORITE Substacks start as a shortcut. I just can't subscribe to so many and do them justice! If this one was indicative I am sure to join the horde at some point!
I adore Anne and the generosity in her philosophy of only approaching people who appear to be open to a conversation. Thank you for asking the questions I've always wanted to know about her process! I relate to a lot of what you've said about not knowing how/when to approach strangers. Working on it!
I've never had anyone describe exactly what I feel when it comes to connection so thank you for this line Madeleine!..."sometimes I find such connections effortless, and sometimes I falter in hesitation" 💕
What an energetic and inspiring interview! I'll definitely be checking out Anne's newsletter 😊.

Thank you Summer! I love the idea of dress up weekends ❤️
