Dear readers,

Quite a few new people have signed up to On Things, so I wanted to share a preview of the companion newsletter that goes out to paid subscribers.

Sent every Sunday, Weekly things is like a filing cabinet for the joyful, interesting and thought-provoking things I stumble across.

It’s filled with things to read, listen to, and also try in your daily life. There’s always a poem, occasional offers, and each issue concludes with the *reader-favourite* Things from the day (i.e. my more personal notes, questions and overheard wisdom—if you enjoy my writing, these are like little nuggets!)

Many people tell me it’s the thing they look forward to most in their inbox, which is rather lovely. If you’re not already a paid supporter, it’s best to upgrade now to read the full issue, and receive future issues!

If now is not a good time, no worries, you’ll still receive the regular free essays and very occasional previews. I hope you enjoy some of the nourishing things today ❤️

Things to read

  • ICYMI: Letting things unfold

  • Knowing when to quit by

    Mari Andrew
    of
    Out of the Blue

  • The doom loop by

    Dani Cirignano
    of
    Self Made

  • Recognise the point of giving advice and you can do it better

  • The hand has twenty-seven bones by Natalie Diaz (beautifully moving—and funny!)

Something to make you cry

I’ve started visiting cryonceaweek.com for a regular cathartic teary!

Various things from a book (new section!)

I’ve been in a bit of a reading rut lately, and so as part of my year of taking things seriously, I wanted to introduce some accountability into my reading habits.

I’m going to experiment with sharing my highlights and maybe some marginalia here, starting with The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran.
